ZONTA MADISON FOUNDATION PRESENTS WOMEN MAKE MOVIES FILM FESTIVAL
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15 AT THE BARRYMORE THEATRE.
The evening will feature a selection of films from Women Make Movies, a 50 year old internationally recognized nonprofit organization that champions women filmmakers and the stories they tell. Following the screenings, you are invited to stay for a facilitated discussion to reflect on the films, share perspectives, and explore how we can work together to create positive change for women and girls in Dane County. Funds raised go directly to programs that support these efforts through Service, Advocacy, Community Grants, and Higher Education Scholarships. The Zonta Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

2025 – 16 Days of Activism

Zonta Club of Madison Joins Clubs in 64 Countries, and UN Women to Build Awareness for Digital Violence Against Women and Girls

The theme of the 2025 Annual 16 Days of Violence to End Gender Violence is UNITE to End Digital Violence Against Women and Girls. Digital violence targets women more than men, across all walks of life, but especially those with public or online visibility – such as activists, journalists, women in politics, human rights defenders, and young women. The impact is even worse for women facing intersecting forms of discrimination, including race, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

This year’s campaign, which aligns with the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, aims to raise awareness about the growing issue of online violence and harassment and calls for governments, tech companies, and individuals to take action. 1991 at the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute and is coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. The dates were chosen to symbolically link violence against women with human rights, beginning with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and ending with Human Rights Day

What Is Zonta?

Zonta Club of Madison, founded in 1940 in Madison, Wisconsin, is part of Zonta International, a global organization of executives and professionals working together to empower women worldwide through advocacy and service. Through community projects, networking with community partners, fundraising, awarding community grants and scholarships, we work to Build a Better World for Women and Girls.

Together with other Zonta Clubs we work toward the Zonta Vision of a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and women are able to achieve full potential. In such a world women have access to all resources and are represented in decision-making positions on an equal basis with men. In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.
